We are going to continue with the blog as usual, because it’s the only thing we can do and we can’t let ourselves succumb to this. But today, more than ever, I wanted to send you a message of love, of kindness, of brotherhood and peace. In my name, and on behalf of my team, I want to send you light and warmth, because we will never be able to make sense of the horror.

Camille is a wonderful contradiction, who really loves a turtleneck… ! A former lawyer who stumbled into the super glamorous and crazy life of a fashion blogger; a Parisian who now lives in London; a “fashion girl” who is completely down to earth and charming – and has impeccable taste in classical French music, the amazing talents you find in people when you get comfortable with them for an entire afternoon!

I already have anxiety about my 26 hour flight home to Sydney for Christmas.

So anything that might bring a little extra ease or peace to that flight is always welcome!!! I really adore this cute little travel pack, a collaboration between Clare V. and Parachute. It’s extra fine merino wool, super cozy and not too precious for serious travel situations (this being one!). But what I think is pure ingenuity is that it’s an eye mask and lightweight blanket in a case that doubles as a pillow case!

Such a lovely little addition to my travel essentials. Ok, so maybe it’s not quite essential but it might make 26 hours feel a little closer to 20…

Paris Couture Fashion Week

In case you haven’t looked up in a while, the trees are blossoming… it’s spring! Nothing makes you feel like you’re in love with a city more than the blossoming of it — quite literally the trees flourishing everywhere…

It’s funny how the warm weather and bright florals popping up actually makes me want to wear white. All white. Like never before. And what dreamier setting than the cinematic backdrop of the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom? You feel this bit of magic, that very moment when the breeze hits and flowers fly in the wind.

Only, when the weather is so perfect, all white can be problematic…

  • Don’t sit on the grass. Take your shoes off, enjoy nature and the fresh air! But, whatever you do, don’t let the temptation of that inviting patch of soft grass lure you in. Bring a picnic rug.
  • Don’t expect to eat. Hungry but wearing an all-white look? Fuhgeddaboutit. Say no to the guac, or BYO apron.
  • Leave fun in the past. Carefree and happy? More like cautious and paranoid. One smudge might ruin the look.

OR just enjoy the white for those few moments and then embrace a bit of filth because it’s sunny and who cares about a bit of dirt? There’s always Tide pens and good dry cleaners…

Head in the Clouds

I could seriously nerd out all day and night over natural remedies and organic beauty.

Erik makes fun of me pretty much every day about it, but it is so fascinating! But really, I had an incredible experience the other day when I went to the New York Institute of Aromatherapy. It sounds kind of clinical, but it’s really a welcoming little store front that was founded by Amy Galper, who has every credential under the sun.

We sat down and Amy told me a little bit about how she got to where she was (by way of some pretty crazy yoga festivals a couple of decades ago), and went a little more in depth about the healing properties of essential oils — how it’s not just the oil but the fragrance that cuts straight to the brain to evoke a response, which can be very powerful and extremely beneficial.

Pretty Bed Linen From France

He was pivotal in the creation of the “open floor plan” (which is kind of crazy to think didn’t exist as an idea even a century ago!), but what is perhaps most endearing was his dedication to urban planning – he was so progressive for his time that he was enthralled with looking at ways to sufficiently and beautifully home people as life moved away from the country and to urban centers.

But Le Corbusier didn’t just create pocket-sized apartments, he was thoughtful about space and his works are all pretty astounding and often visually striking. And he was thinking about this before many others, carving out the ideals of modern architecture before it existed!

Ok, so I could go on and on about him, but I should probably let you discover more about his work on your own! Or maybe you’re already a fan, too, and we can crush on his designs together?

Abbey Lee’s Mermaid Hair

Short hair and beanie is a bit of a conundrum.Ok, I know, I know… Garance does it well, but it hasn’t been such an easy learning curve for me. And my hair is that weird length where, when I put on said beanie, just spikey bits of hair come out the back with a vague look of a mullet. Not really the look I’m going for, and definitely not becoming!

The Bikes That Make You Happy

I think I’ve found a solution! A nail art that’s so approachable and subtle enough to wear even if you’ve never been one to apply a sequin or go graphic with your polish – the half moon!

I know it’s not radical or out there, but that is perfect for me – or anyone who is most inclined to nails that can be worn anywhere (office, out to dinner, meetings…) without a second thought. I was with my friends Amy and Renée and they completely inspired me to try this out in white, my default polish color.

And what I love the most, is that, once it starts to chip, it’s fairly easy to do at home. Just bring a steady hand and your color of choice, plus a clear polish for base and top coat. First, shape and clean nails. Then use a base coat. Third, take your color of choice and, using a toothpick or something similar, dip it in the polish and draw an arc on your nail as a border/outline – fill in the larger section using the polish brush. Apply a second coat of color on the same area. Finish with a top coat of clear polish. Voila!
